Greenleaf took a moment today to commemorate the 100 year anniversary of the Armistice and also to remember all those, from whichever country, who have sacrificed their lives in wars and conflicts around the globe.
Thank you to our friends at the Royal British Legion who joined us and made our assembly even more special. A bugler played the Last Post, with the standards dipped, followed by the exhortation, by Andy, one of the ex-servicemen:
“They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old,
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning
We will remember them.”
The end of the one minute’s silence was signalled by the bugler playing the Reveille.
Throughout, the children were incredibly respectful. This was a very poignant event for staff and children and one which will stay in our memories for ever!
